Attack against an anarchist militant

In February 2025, an anarchist comrade became the target of an attack – and we neither can nor want to accept this fact silently. Lukáš Borl was attacked by an antifascist activist because Lukáš stands on a consequent internationalist position with respect to the so-called Russian-Ukranian war, rejecting any sort of militarism, hence refusing – unlike some of those who participate in the self-proclaimed anarchist milieu in the Czech Republic – to support the defence of Ukraine. We publish below the account of what happened written by Lukáš.

First of all, we express our solidarity with the attacked anarchist comrade! We condemn what happened and consider it absolutely unacceptable – nevertheless, we are not surprised. We also perceive the fact that there are groups within the workers’ movement which – trying to justify their existence – push the ‘action’ to the forefront at all costs, even if it means to cast away the principles which they used to proclaim eagerly, and to take the side of one faction of the bourgeoisie in order to have the long-waited possibility to ‘do something’.

However, whether one likes it or not, communism can only arise from the internationalist and anti-statist struggle of the proletariat, therefore the defence of a nation-state and any kind of support for its army cannot be justified, regardless of the circumstances. Those who do that anyway, in fact contribute to the slaughter of proletarians in capitalist wars. Let us not forget that among those who fight and die in both confronting armies, there are a lot of people who have been driven to the front not by their own conviction (whatever it might be) but by the coercion, blackmailing and violence exercised by state organs. The states defend their sovereignty not only in front of the other state but also in front of their citizens’ personal autonomy. The life and death of the individual is in the hands of the state. Especially if this individual is a wage worker without property, who has neither political liaisons nor enough money to be used to avoid being sent to the butchery. Taking the side of a state means also supporting the state in its effort to turn the living individual into a tool, even into cannon fodder. We leave it to the reader to decide whether this attitude can be considered anarchism.
